The next municipal election will be held on Monday,
November 13, 2006.

This website(http://www.toronto.ca/elections/index.htm) will provide you with all the information you need to understand the electoral process and how to exercise your right to vote. This website will continue to expand as the election approaches.

The City encourages you to participate in the upcoming municipal election. Voting is a fundamental right of our democracy. When you vote, you are selecting representatives who will make the laws and policies that determine how our City functions and how we live together.

Municipal government is involved in many aspects of our daily lives - from fixing roads, providing water and electricity, collecting garbage, caring for children and the elderly, running public transit, supporting the arts, and protecting our City's citizens. Make an informed choice and browse the City's website to learn about the issues facing Toronto and City Council's many areas of responsibilities.

On Monday November 13, 2006, the citizens of Toronto will be voting for the following offices:

1 Mayor
44 Councillors
School Board Trustees for 4 Local School Boards

Remember, on Monday, November 13, 2006 – it's up to you.

-------------------------
Learning by using. And to know something about our city and our city's election is a good way to learn and to use English.

An English word learned is useless until it is used properly by the learner.

Here from the city's election website, we'll learn something that we may not know but we might need to know if we are concerned about our daily life as citizens of the city.

楼上两位的建议都不错,可以用。只是yummy是儿语,注意说话对象(如年轻人、有小孩子的家长)。

简单地说:good smell。(足够)
夸张点说:great smell/smells great/fabulous。。。

可以说:did you smell the smell? 这不是very bad English,而是非常标准且文雅的英语。只是古里古气,而且没有赞叹的含义,相反有感觉可疑的味道/意味,类似“闻到有什么气味/味道了吗?”

我可能凭直觉会这么说:Oh,something smells good !

敬佩和感谢各位!学了不少东西。我才发现这个贴,人又笨,只好跟在后面慢慢爬了
