可能楼主是打算把特别中国化、古典味儿浓厚的旧曲儿翻译成英文，唱给老外听听，以浓烈突出的东方味儿感染他们。可以理解，可以理解。

非常谢谢船长的支持和理解！绝大部分老外对于中国在艺术方面所取得的成就是不太了解的．他们只知道中国有京剧，有一些奇怪的乐器，舞龙狮等．在音乐诗词方面更是了解的有限．举个例子吧，著名作曲家Gustav Mahler (1860-1911) 的最后一部作品，有人称第九交响曲，也叫＜大地之歌＞．就是MAHLER这哥们根据咱们李白的诗歌为材料而创作的．他们是怎样理解李白兄弟的诗呢？　这些诗歌的翻译过程是这样的：

也就是说到了MAHLER手里这些中国唐诗已经是第五手的货色了，据说，他们每个人在翻译的时候都加上了自己的理解和想像．在听完这套曲子以后，龙虾MM快崩溃了，感觉就像吃了一碗放了很多奶油和芝士的中国炸酱面．看了<春日醉起言志 >的  英文歌词后，觉得李白酒仙的形象霎时间变成LCBO门口那些脏稀稀的酒鬼，失去了很多很多美好的诗意．其实很多西人对中国文化是和好奇很感兴趣的，但是，没有好的沟通桥梁，结果造成N多误解．呵呵．但，不管怎么说人家MAHLER想尝试一下新的东西总是好的．

好例子也是不少滴，有个小伙子应该是MAHLER孙子辈的作曲家，名字叫Benjamin Britten 1913-1976　他也是一位多产的杰出近现代英国作曲家．他的作品　 Songs from the Chinese, op. 58 　采用了白居易老先生的几首诗．   
BENJAMIN果然聪明伶俐，他采用了Arthur Waley (1889-1966) 的译本  ．这位AW可是汉学家．下面是其中一首作品的翻译．

Lazily leaning alone against the garret, unwillingly to look at the hazy shadow of the field willow creeping onto the curtain of the window.

Further fails come from a couple of careless swallows flying over the rails. Nothing could I do except for jealousy towards their bill and coo.
