付錢用「塑料」？

來到加拿大後，不知何時也養成了老外的習慣：平時不帶或少帶現金。

記得有一回，我到超市買東西，收銀員小姐動作俐落，將物品逐一掃描，啾啾幾聲便裝袋完畢。我一看顯示屏，也就是十多元，便想付現金了事。誰知掏空錢夾，也摸不出足夠現金。此時，那收銀員見我情景尷尬，便微笑著問道：Do you have plastic ?

我乍一聽，有點納悶：Plastic不就是「塑料」嗎？但她此刻所問，顯然不是要我用「塑料」付帳。見我仍皺眉不解，收銀員小姐便指著我後邊一個非洲裔顧客手上已夾住的東西說：Here it is.

我回頭一瞥，不禁啞然失笑，原來那東西我的錢包裏就有嘛，不就是全北美洲男女老少人手幾張的信用卡嗎？這讓我又學到一個當代北美俚語。我趕緊也掏出自己的那張「塑料」遞上，讓收銀員小姐一刷了事，提物便走。
