So 1999? I landed one year earlier.
Here were the unemployment rates of previous two years:
1997: 9.1, 1998: 8.3.
Since then the unemployment rates have never been higher than 8.3.
If your logic holds, then your immigration should have been declined.
Also since 1990s, landed immigrants have been steady (250-300K), and east Asia (China, HK, Taiwan, etc.) has been number one source of immigration to Canada.
Don't get me wrong, I think Canada should have accepted you. However let's not close the door, simply because you are in, let's give the same opportunity to our Chinese brothers and sisters as this country gave to you.
Besides, as an aged country, we need the new blood. |
