I am amazed at you guys. Passport was not a requirement to get to USA until very recently. I did not get a passport for 7 years after I got my Canadian citizenship. I went to USA very, very often and commuted to a job in USA weekly for 2 years. Showed my ID 80-90% of time to US customs during those years. Showed my ID to Canadian customs about 60% of times. I do not give the custom my ID until asked to provide. Many times they just ask where are you going, why are you going there and how long are you staying. Canadian custom asks how long you stayed and the value of goods you are bring back. You are driving a Ontario licensed car and speaking with valley accent. Why would they be interested in checking your ID in detail. They would know who you are in 20 seconds. I only found out that the boarder is tight after moving to Toronto. |
