Snowshoes have a history of over thousands of years and was used specifically for walking on snow. Traditional snowshoes are made of a wooden frame with hide lacings and were constructed to easily navigate through areas of deep snow. Monticle's snowshoes are made of lightweight materials such as aluminum, plastics and synthetic fabrics, making it a fun and easy recreational activity for those who enjoy a nice winter hike outdoors.
   
Come on out, strap on some snow shoes, and experience how to stay above the deep snow. Learn about snowshoe safety; including injury prevention and how to avoid hazards such as thin ice, thick ice, avalanches, hypothermia, frostbite, hidden obstacles, altitude sickness, and getting lost.
