It seems that there are lots of people in this forum who don't understand why we observe Remembrance Day. They are very confused or ashamed of wearing a poppy in November to show their respect and appreciation to those who died for the country. I believe the meaning behind the tradition of Remembrance Day need to be clarified.

Why is the Remembrance Day observed on the 11th of November at 11 oclock? Remembrance Day is observed at this allotted time is because it is the day when the first World War officially ended in 1918. We wear a poppy to commemorate those who lost their lives to protect their country, including those brave soldiers who died for us in different wars in the history of China. We are not talking about politics, we are showing respects to people who died in the wars.

We wear a poppy is not because we try to say that we are proud of being part of the wars. On the contrary, we wear a poppy to remind ourselves how important and valuable World Peace is. We are try to remind people how important life is and conflicts can be resolved through negotiations. We should recognize the differences existing in all nations and traditions so that we can accept those differences and appreciate the " rainbow" we have in the world.

Nobody should feel ashamed of wearing a poppy because it shows the rest of the community that we care about world peace and we won't forget those pains and lost happened in the wars and we will try our best to make our world a peaceful world for the current and next generation.

We need to come out of the restricted thinking circle and look out of the box where you can see the beautiful rainbow with multiple colours. If you can accept only one colour, I do believe living in a multi-coloured country is a pain at ass for you.

人远更忧国

现中国人的远祖是从非洲迁徙过来的。你是说，不要忘了非洲？

再说，爱和恨是相关的。我们深爱着自己的祖国，所以，我们就特别痛恨糟塌我们祖国的人。

平心而论，“挑刺”的人比尔等更爱国！


这不成抬杠了吗？人还是猴子变来的，照你的说法，我们每年都要纪念猴子吗？一些人逻辑混乱，还自以为是，我都厌倦回帖反驳了。记住，在加拿大戴花的人，在日本肯定会参拜靖国神社。

从你的回复中看，你不认为那个日本兵是败类，虽然他是为死去的中国人谢罪，反而认为他有一些人类的良知；你也认为更多的日本人去靖国神社参拜战死的军人也有他们的正当的理由：人们应当为战争中死去的人们哀悼，不管他们当时站在正义的一方还是反正义的一方。

那么，我认为你反对新移民们戴罂粟花就不成立了。

你硬生生的把战争中死去的人和先烈划等号，就是在借助“爱国主义”的帽子，反对人类的良知。

我们一方面纪念所有战争中死去的人士，是因为我们热爱和平热爱自由，我们痛恨战争，战争是人类冲突中一种罪恶的形式，战争给战争双方都带来了惨痛的回忆，我们借助纪念借助反思，更清楚地能看到我们怎么样才能远离战争：只有当自由和民主的光芒照耀世界每个角落的那一天，我们才能远离的罪恶的战争；

我们另一方面缅怀先烈，是因为先烈们代表正义的一方，是他们的鲜血使我们有机会享受和平和自由民主。

如果你是中国人，认为中国人，你的祖辈对加拿大死去的人有罪，你完全可以向日本兵那样去向加拿大谢罪，去戴那朵小红花，纪念杀中国人的加拿大士兵。你认为戴红花的中国人都是这样的人吗？

不谢的罂粟花 --加拿大的Remembrance Day

　　每年的十一月，成千上万朵鲜红的罂粟花在加拿大盛开。不像五月间的郁金香那样开遍大地，它们绽放在加拿大人的胸前、领尖和帽上。自1921年开始到现在，罂粟花已经这样开放了整整83年。它是加拿大人缅怀阵亡将士的标志。

　　11月11日这一天，是加拿大法定的公众假日──Remembrance Day。中文译法很多，有人译成“军人纪念日”，有人译成“停战纪念日”。这一天虽然是第一次世界大战的停战纪念日。

　　。。。。。
    这些红花募捐来的钱要交给退伍军人协会，为战争纪念馆筹集基金。

　　我不由好奇起来，想知道罂粟花的来历。这一认真不要紧，我发现罂粟花纪念的，不仅是两次世界大战和维和行动中为加拿大捐躯的将士，还有朝鲜战争的亡灵。于是我十分犹豫，不知道要不要继续佩戴这朵小花。
     。。。。。。
　　1921年，加拿大退伍军人协会正式采用罂粟花作为纪念阵亡将士的标志。麦克瑞的诗显然起了不可忽视的作用。他自己也被后人誉为有着“枪手的眼睛、外科医生的手和诗人的灵魂。”

　 诗中的死者担心被活着的人遗忘，他们的牺牲将变得毫无意义。加拿大人用永不凋谢的罂粟花做了回答。为了这诗、为了死去的生命、为了正义与和平，我戴起了这朵艳红的黑芯罂粟花。

调子太高，都到全人类的高度了。既然到了全人类高度，参拜个靖国神社对你来说也就相当于上亲戚家串个门了，可惜在他们国家的人眼里你只是个小丑，他们国家人民的境界可没你那么高。还是那句话：一个不尊重自己先人的民族，，想得到别的民族的尊重，或者一个不去纪念自己先人而去纪念杀害自己先人的人，想得到人家的尊重，都是不可能的，这种行为也是虚伪的和令人不齿的。
