(CNN) -- A suicide bomber wearing an explosive vest blew himself up among mourners inside a funeral tent on a farm about 12 miles north of Baghdad, Iraq, on Monday, according to police.
At least 21 people were killed and 35 others injured at the funeral in al Taji, a mostly Sunni district, officials said.
The funeral was for a member of the local Awakening Council, a group also known as the Sons of Iraq and Sahawat, made up of Sunni Arab fighters who turned against al Qaeda.
Iraqi security forces believe that ISIS militants were behind the attack.
Awakening Councils are U.S.-backed groups that have been active in Iraq since 2006. A few years ago, the councils were credited as being a major factor in a drop in violence across Iraq, but council members have also become targets for jihadists.

今天，星期二，一天之内，巴格达四周共发生七起爆炸，40人死亡。

Police and medical officials say at least 40 people have been killed and dozens others injured when bomb explosions struck areas in and around Iraq’s capital, Baghdad.
The deadliest of Tuesday's attacks took place in Baghdad’s southeastern neighborhood of Jisr Diyala, in which at least 25 people were killed and 50 others wounded when two bombs went off minutes apart from each other.
Police and hospital officials said several students, who had just come out of a nearby school after class, were among those injured.
Moreover, security officials speaking on condition of anonymity, said three civilians lost their lives and eight others sustained injuries when a bomb exploded near a restaurant in Baghdad’s northwestern district of Shula on Tuesday.
In Baghdad’s northern Shaab neighborhood, a bomb blast killed one civilian and wounded five, the sources said.
A similar bomb attack on a commercial street in the town of Youssifiyah, located 20 kilometers (12 miles) south of the Iraqi capital, also killed three civilians and wounded nine others.
Meanwhile, a police officer and a civilian were killed and five others wounded when an explosion targeted a police patrol in the city of Madain, located 32 kilometers (20 miles) southeast of Baghdad.
Two more civilians were killed and seven others wounded after a bomb blast struck an outdoor market in the city of Latifiyah, situated about 30 kilometers (20 miles) south of Baghdad.
In a separate incident, an explosive-laden car detonated in the town of Mishada, located 30 kilometers (20 miles) north of Baghdad, killing at least four civilians and wounding 12 others.

刚刚过去的一月份，各种爆炸导致伊拉克死亡1375人。
According to the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), a total of 1,375 Iraqis lost their lives last month, while 2,240 others were injured as a result of attacks in the country.
The UN mission added that 790 civilians were among the fatalities. The number of civilians injured also stood at 1,469. Violence also claimed the lives of a further 585 members of the Iraqi army, while 771 others sustained injuries.
A great portion of the casualties was recorded in Baghdad, where 256 civilians were killed and 758 others wounded.
