The medical system in North America is deigned for their citizens. For example, Canadian who wants to see a specialist has to wait for several months because it's free except for prescription drugs, glasses, and dental care. (Most people have supplementary insurance to cover those things). Due to free medical system, people take advantage of it, so there are more and more people waiting in the doctor's office. Nearly all European countries have a universal health care system. I know that waiting is a big problem. But their services are very nice. All Chinese ladies who have had babies in Canada can share their experience with you. The medical system in China is easily accessed by their citizens, especially the high-ranking officials.The ordinary citizens who want to have a surgery must prepare an red envelop. You know what I mean. Last year, I got sick in China. I went to the hospital near my hotel. My main problem is insomnia for a few months. I was taking Canadian medicines, but it didn't work anymore. So a female doctor told me that I had to be hospitalized for observation. She gave me a list of medical procedures to follow such as blood tests, electrocardiogram, CT, MRI, EMG, twenty-four hour Holter monitoring,oxygen absorption  etc. I was very scared. The next day I begged a nurse for being discharged. I left a hospital at the fourth day and the hospital fee was around 10,000 yuan. I called my insurance company in Canada for my situation and I was told to go back to Canada as soon as possible or the company would send a nurse for me to help me go back to Canada. I was suffered so much because a Chinese doctor prescribed wrong medicine for my insomnia.
I have been in Canada for over 20 years and I don't need to pay my medicine and health examinations.
