Canada's biggest trade partner is US. Total $582.4 billion in total (two way) goods trade during 2017. Canada total imported from US $282.5 billion; Goods exports to US totaled $300.0 billion. The U.S. goods trade deficit with Canada was $17.5 billion in 2017.
the biggest trade barrier in the world is in China, that is the reason why almost all western countries are having trade deficit with China. One example: US levies 2.5% tariff on Chinese car import, while China levies 25% tariff on US car import. is this a fair trade? Kefei, give me a break. I haven't touched the Biggest Wall in the world on freedom of speech yet.
can you please explain why US does not buy Chinese made car if tariff is zero? question to you: if Canadsa tarrif is zero, do you buy China made car? probably not. why? because quality is shit. This is what I meant high trade barrier does not create incensive to improve quality, company in China could be benefied through trade barreir, no incentive to change.
I didn't say 25% violated WTO rules. but it is a WTO loophole, this is the reason why US is pushing China to change, since everyone including yourself agreed that China is so great, so rich, so modern, GDP is 2nd in the world.....
