For the first time in its history, the Ontario Provincial Police Association, the union representing OPP officers, is issuing a statement on electoral politics. It has aired two ads, asking "We're here for you. Who's Tim Hudak here for?"
The president of the OPPA has said "For the first time in the sixty year history of the OPPA, Tim Hudak has given us no choice but to engage in a publicity campaign during an election. These ads do not serve as an endorsement for the Liberals or the NDP, We just don't want this Conservative as Premier."
This is pretty groundbreaking and shocking. I never thought I'd see the police union, a) engage in electoral politics, and b) come out against the Conservatives.
