Quick facts about David Price, Rob Ford’s former director of logistics and operations:
Latest job: Hired April 2013 for an annual salary of $130,000.
Previous Rob Ford connection: Mayor Rob Ford’s football coach in high school.
Reported youthful connection with Ford’s brother, Doug: Globe and Mail reported that sources say he sold hashish with Doug Ford in the 1980s.
Doug Ford’s assessment of Price’s job qualifications: “You can’t teach loyalty,” Doug Ford told the Globe and Mail.
Family: Owns home in Halton Hills which he shares with his daughter and estranged wife. Legal documents say his wife of almost 20 years has filed for divorce but they still live in different sections of the same house.
Link to current drug investigation: Toronto police documents suggest he was interviewed as part of its investigation.
Connection to crack video: The Star has reported police have investigated attempts by Price to obtain a video of the mayor apparently smoking crack cocaine. The Star earlier reported that Price contacted Mark Towhey, then Ford’s chief of staff, and asked “hypothetically” what the mayor’s office would do if Price had been told location of video.
Personal video troubles: Captured on security video berating Georgetown GO transit employee and breaking a station door. Troubles apparently started when his Presto card didn’t work.
Job troubles: Suspended in June for a week after calling a Toronto newspaper to complain about a headline on a story. The story
was about a CBC report that Price identified himself as “Dave from Georgetown” and “Dave from Scarborough” when he called in to the Ford brothers’ now-cancelled radio show at least a half dozen times to voice support for the mayor.
More job troubles: Not seen at city hall for at least two weeks after he uttered a homophobic slur at CBC reporter who broke the “Dave from Georgetown” radio call-in story. |
