If your car still doesn't start, do not continue adding additional amounts of gas line antifreeze. Waiting for the temperature to warm up or having your vehicle taken to a mechanic may be your only options.

The good news is that trying gas line antifreeze isn't going to cost you a bundle and they all contain basically the same ingredients. Your local auto parts store will have products selling for anywhere from just over $1 up to $4 per bottle. A bottle of two of the most popular brands, Pyroil or Heet, will cost around $2 per bottle. You can also purchase a slightly more expensive product that includes multiple additives such as Heet Fuel Line Antifreeze, Water Remover and Fuel Injector Cleaner.

Gas line antifreeze isn't expensive, so it's worth a try as a preventive measure in extremely cold or wet conditions. It's also worth giving it a shot if you do end up with a frozen gas line or water in your fuel system. Today's gasolines already contain the same types of additives that gas line antifreeze products do. So it's not necessary to use gas line antifreeze on a regular basis or every time you fill up.
