根正苗红？海外华人“主流”群体印象

有没有人已经对号入座？被人触到了痛处？借着看不懂掩饰内心的虚弱与郁闷？

移民要学习的东西还太多；尽量学点宽容、体恤！总是把自己摆到高高在上，高人一等的位置上；把国内那套‘特权思想’搬到国外来是行不通的。

我的理解：作者通篇文章有“反压迫”的观点；反主流是反压迫的一个部分；其实说到底人人都在被压迫。主流社会压迫移民、压迫社会经济地位低的人们；被压迫者内部也会演化出“压迫群体”与“被压迫群体”。

下面有交恶的婆媳关系打个比喻。俗话说的：“多年的媳妇熬成婆”，多年受气的媳妇变成婆婆后，有些会变本加厉地欺压儿媳妇。完全忘记了自己曾经被压迫的痛苦；转身变成“压迫者”。

From local Canadian stand view, those from HongKong (Cantonese speakers) impressed local white residents with "Chinese" who lived with them for a century. If you also stand at the same point, Cantonese can be considered so-called "主流". In fact, Cantonese also classified themselves as a higher level than those from Taiwan island and Mainland.

If you're frustrated with this viewpoint, please look around those successful stories Cantonese achieved, such as Cantonese Executives in private sectors and Politicians and senior position holders in the various level of governments, Business owners...

Looks like you didn't understand what the author was talking about. The so-called "主流" he refereed to were those from mainland China, came to Canada as  graduate students then became landed residents and Canadian citizen. And he was called them "主流" of overseas Chinese.

What you said about those Cantonese, some of them had pretty good achievement even became a Senator. But, they hardly have any influence in Chinese people. In fact, those are the people who were actively fighting for the right of eating shark fins. They are not the mainstream Canadian, they are not mainstream Chinese, either. They are the reason why many Canadian don't like Chinese.
