I found in this website all the names of streets, intersections, cities, provinces, even names of people, organiztions or shopping stores, are written in Chinese.
Do you think it is good?
I need to spend a while to math what mentioned in a text to what I know in my real life. Because I know all these names in English. Sometimes, I have to give up since it is really hard to find it.
For example, where is 缅省? I guess not everybody knows it.
Most these names are translated to Mandarin via Cantonese. So it is far away from the real English pronunciation.
I don't think it is helpful for Chinese to learn Toronto and Canada. In fact I found many Chinese pronunciate name of locations or people in Mandarin when they talk something in English with others. It is pretty funny and hard to understand.
So can eveyone write name of locations, people in English?after all, here is Canada. |
