my first job in Canada...

I came to Canada on June 25, 2001. Before I came here, I worked in Beijing Motorola. At that time, nobody knew the economy were turning bad, so my wife quitted her graduate school and followed me to come here.

At the beginning, we are quit optimistic, I thought I could find job very soon.

I went to the human resource center at Dufferin Mall, got TorontoStar, and sent out resume to all the recruiting advertisements.

After two days, I got a phone call, asking me to go to interview. Who says looking for job is difficult here? I didn't believe it at that time.

But when I got there, I was in surprised, the employer is not from a company, It is a doctor who is from Taiwan. He had an ideal, and wanted to develop some medical software with VB. I was very frustrated. Then I took the examination, it is not about computer, it was like GRE or GMAT, so strange! When he interviewed me, even though I didn't want to work here, but I didn't have job at that time, I thought I should get it and tried to find another one. So I told him how I was interested in it, how I can do it well. He told me my score was very high, and since I am from Tsinghua University, he told me he would consider it.

After several days, no response, since I think on my resume, with Tsinghua Univeristy Master Degree, 2 Year Hitachi/Japan, Motorola working experience, if the next one is xxx Clinic, it is funny. So I didn't follow up.

I just kept on sending out resume, after about month, I didn't get any response, I realized something was wrong. Then I found out, for most people, it would take 7-8 month to get a new job? It is terrible, this is not because I am Chinese, even native white guy, they are same.
