I was exactly the same as you when I came to Canada. I had nothing but myself.

Now I am doing very well, I got my confidence back, and my parents are so proud of me.

Bottom line, nowhere is absolutely good(except heaven), and nowhere is absolutely bad(except hell). It all depends on everyone's personal feelings.

Life is good, life is bad, but that is life.

Compare to immigrants from the other countries, don't you think Chinese people complain too much?  wherever they are originally from - China, Taiwan or Hong Kong. At least this is a FREE country, nobody can deny.

yup to a certain degree.
But remember we paid this by giving over 50% income to the incompetent  gov. (income tax, sale tax whatever tax such as health care tax).

sorry, maybe you don't need to ..
cuz you have 10 kids and get the monthly payment from the gov.
so that is why you like Canada cuz it ripped off mid income family..

In addtion, it is just a damed quiet place in Markham at night.. not much action going on.  it is boring for ppl like exciting place.. there are lots of exciting cities in the world, but not here.
of course it doesn't matter to the ppl who have 10 kids at home..they r just happy playing the kids..  It is FAMILY CANADA, not free Canada as u said.

I totally agree with the article. I have been in Canada for 14 years, US 8 years, and this is exactly what Canada is like now. What I  do not understand is why there are always lots of Chinese still promoting how good this darn country is. Stupid!

i totally agree with you!
although there are enough chinese ppl "suffering" in canada. (like when they were in china, they had jobs like doctor, nurse, or computer technician. but when they came to this country, they have to work as a labour.) , they still say canada is "such a beautiful and good country." i really don't know what those ppl are thinking.

maybe they are just showing off to those ppl in china???? me have no idea....-_-
