Thanks for your response.
However, I don't think it was a typo. In the original report, the reporter already converted sentenced compensation from RMB to CAN dollars. Both of the amounts indicate that number wasn’t a typo.
Besides, according to the Chinese medium, the restaurant already agreed on the compensation (half a million RMB). How come the G&M report didn't mention that? Since G&M even knew the son in law of the victim planned to move to Canada, which wasn't mentioned in any of the Chinese medium, how come they failed to provide accurate report on that lawsuit, which is absolutely easier to get?
The family says it has spent more than 346,000 yuan ($48,000 Canadian) on medical expenses, legal fees, funeral costs and other expenses caused by the poisoning. The restaurant has paid less than 40,000 yuan ($5,500) in compensation.
A court in Beijing ordered the restaurant to pay another 45,000 yuan ($6,200) to the family, but the owners refused, saying they cannot afford it. The owners, in turn, are trying to sue the four market traders that supplied the meat, but the case has not been heard yet. |
