Thanks for all information and links to enrich our knowledge.
I would be extremely cautious with information from the media. The reporter is an immigration columnist and works mainly at the airport and the Heritage Inn (Canada Immigration Holding Centre). The ex-CIC officer and now an immigration consultant feeds the reporter with case information for purposes very questionable. In a nutshell, both don't maintain an arm's length.
One of the link (Babies to be deported) is drastically wrong. Sherry is a Canadian born in Canada, so deportation does not apply to her. Hong Zhang is the mother, so she has the rights to bring her back to China or anywhere in the world if accepted by that country.
Deportation doesn't apply to Canadian citizen, which is common sense, so I would like to challenge the reputation of Toronto Sun, given such a headline.
The Portugese family is an apple to Zhang's orange. They left Canada, and re-applied to return. Zhang definitely can leave and re-apply to come back, if she is qualified.
The backlog, not a new problem, is very unfortunate. Let's not talk about the difficulties processing refugee applications (like Celil's case). Are we willing to pay more tax to hire more immigration officers to speed up the process?
There is only ONE agenda for Immigration Canada (and every immigration of all countries in the world): allow the desirables in and block the undesirables off.
Zhang's case is even not as appealing as Lai's. For sure, Zhang will not have a easy life back in China with her daughter. In Lai's scenario, we are talking about life and death. Anyway, both of them are given the chance and the procedural justice. At the end, if none, anyone of or both of them will stay in Canada, so be it.
Very well said!
You and several other excellent friends are my motivation to stay. I hope more and more people like you would come to here and add their values to this lovely/disgusting/confusing/... online community. |
