加拿大经验

From business perspective, any new hire is an investment .  Any investment is associated with a certain risks.  Whether or not a business can be successfult depends on if you make wise investment and manage /control risk effectively.  In short, they will hire the best and get the most from what they pay out.    If you understand this, you would understand why companies require candidates to have “Canadian Experience”.

“Canadian Experience” is not a barrier – from the way I look, it is one of the things a business has to do to control this risk. Running a business in a well-developed (well-regulated) society is quite a challenge. Lot of companies are willing to pay big $ for the best candidate they are looking for.  I have seen many excellent Chinese Canadian (not CBC-Canadian-born Chinese)  getting hired for management and important roles in flag ship companies from various industries.   If you are not sire, it doesn’t necessarily mean you are not good at all.  May be not a good timing or something else.  Or you may be not suitable for the position.  Either way, keep trying.  Please keep in mind: many INTANGILE things are counted, such as soft skills, the way you communicate, your spoken English, your body languages (very important)…  Toom many to tell…

I have met many excellent Chinese fellow students in MBA program. Some of them are academically strong, but some of them have strong communication and interpersonal skills (but average QPA).  The end result, most of them received a nice offer by the time they graduate…

DO:

Always think about what you can do to provide what they need (you need to learn how to do that)

Be positive.  If you are the best, you will find a good job for sure.  If you don’t get anything you have been looking for, sit down and think about  other alternatives.  Being an employee is only one of the options, not all.
