For the past few years, the City of Mississauga has been reviewing and making changes to
residential zoning bylaws and the City’s official plan to ensure they can meet the requirements
set out in Provincial Legislation (Build Faster Act, 2022) and the 2023 Federal Housing
Accelerator Fund. On December 6th, Mississauga City Council approved a motion to allow
residents to build four residential units (fourplexes) on low-rise residential lots. The city is
currently reviewing other zoning changes including permitting multiplex developments such as
townhomes in residential neighborhoods. These applications have already been seen and
approved in other Wards (ie Lorne Park Road).
