I was at the Phillips Square very late - 20 minutes before midnight. It was a big mistake trying to enter the square. I did not take any photos as it is too risky to squeeze in and may run into the risk of being stepped to the ground or losing my camera. There were mainly young people forcing their way in. I could not get out of the square but just stood in a safe spot. I saw a mother trying to protect her young daughter by leaning against the wall of the building to make enough space to stand up with her child. She could not enjoy the firework that much as she had to turn her head around to see the firework and keeping her spot from the pushy young crowd. As soon as the firework was over, we tried to get out by holding our hands together to make enough strength to protect us from the pushy young crowd. The firework was not very impressive for a mega city like Toronto. The city should have more resources to direct the traffic of the big big crowd and should have a protection plan of us - the citizens. |
