overstate the advantages of  high school education . what the high school students learn is superfacial and not strong enough to support them to finish  post-secondary education. The ratio of failure at  C or U  is more than 50%. You are too early to be happy. I prefer my kids to have a strong base as the chinese kids have while their english are the same as here. That will help them in the high education.

我也赞赏加拿大的高中教育方法和体制.真是很能从各方面全面的培养孩子的综合能力.它比中国的那种填鸭似的应试教育先进得多.

至于有人抱怨加拿大的大学淘汰率,那不是加拿大高中教育的错.大学教育和中学教育本质的区别是它已不是义务教育,有的大学为了自己的利益,不惜打学生的主意.有的课目公开的,人为地预先就为班级设立平均分线,有的暗地设定淘汰率.有的老师在开课之初就公开地说"要在我的课上得80分,那时不可能的",老师出考题也是出些偏,难,怪的题,目的无非就是想多一些人FAIL,不得不再花钱重学.

因此不要因为自己在大学里受到的一些挫折,就来诋毁加拿大高中教育的成效.

Unfortunately, both Chinese system and Canadian system are failed in education.  This can be evident by Chinese students are driven crazy, really crazy and Canadian students are incapable, those are sure things.
Chinese system is obsolete and over emphasize university preparation; and Canadian system is like current British and American system which prepare students to seek happiness but not challenges all the time, indeed which is a progress but also a failed experiment.  
Over emphasizing is always wrong.
