$900 a month for one course??????
In Canada, research based graduate students are given a lump sum per year, about 18 to 20K. TA or RA work is included. Some departments may choose to give extra, but I have never heard $900 a month for one course only. I think the writer is from University of Ottawa (probably not Carleton). I am going to send the university a letter to ensure the money is well spent. Perhaps, the auditor general has to make a trip there.
Engineering math (economics)? What is that? Calculus, linear algebra or statistics? Sounds like basic accounting. The author has too big an ego. I taught 2 university terms before, and all TAs think the students are stupid. They are not, but the TAs have too big an ego.
BTW, what is wrong with the taxi driver of middle east background? What's wrong with Quebec? Canada economy depends on Alberta, Southern Ontario and Southern Quebec. The rest of the country, including BC, receive subsidy from these 3 provinces every year.
After 6 years, the PhD (I guess) student does not know Canada too much. |
