Where to buy a house ?

Hi all,

This is my first post here, please Duo Duo Guan Zhao !

Sorry I have to write in English; my PC doesn't have Chinese input. I can read Chinese though.

I just arrived from Vancouver. I'm thinking about buying a house here in Toronto, but I have no idea about where to live.

I saw and liked a detached house south of Lawrence and Moringside. The price is affordable. However, I noticed that another house of the same kind in North York was priced about $100K higher than this one. I'm puzzled.

Does anyone have some idea why the houses at Lawrence and Moringside are cheaper than those in North York ?

Are good schools the only difference ? any other reason (crime rate, busy traffic, etc) ? Is Lawrence and Moringside a good community ? It looks like a quiet neighborhood.

you should get associate brokers to help you, they will have professional advice.

I'm sorry if I hurt your feeling. I meant to say that it is still too early for me to get a real estate agent. As I don't have any idea of what I want, it'd be a waste of time for both the agent and myself.

I talked with my co-worker today. He strongly advised against Moringside. He told me that Moringside is infamous for the high crime rate.

That leaves me with no choice but the expensive houses at North York......

我正是從事地產行業,且是Broker Owner,是自己開的一間小型物業代理公司,名下有八名 real estate agents,其中小半數是華人,大半數是本地人,他們的客戶以西人較多。

我從不主張我的agents把時間和精力花在一些生蟲客身上,有空多打幾通電話,多拿幾個西人賣主的屋盤最實惠。

再者：地產從業員的feeling不會那麼容易被hurt的。
