The grand economic potential of Mainland China is just liberating at her beginning period. At first, America looked as an isolated continental nation, but during WWI it became the largest creditor in the World and the largest steel producer. Now, China is by far the largest creditor and the largest steel producer, with a large trade surplus and the largest currency reserves. The US is still more sophisticated and its diplomacy, army, navy, political links etc. have an strong influence over the rest of the World....the same will happen with China, peacefully or by force. Britain decided to cede its position to America after WWII, with the US replacing the UK to guarantee trade routes and open markets for Anglo-American goods. Germany also tried to replace Britain in part of the World, but the UK didn′t accept it.
