Wow, what a wonderful turn out! As a patient, who knows ones on the waiting list for a donor, I can assure you that your act of geneoristy will save their lives, and bring them hopes. I can tell you first hand how desperate it is for someone to have to wait for bone marrow donor. My doctor had explained to me in person that donating bone marrow is now a much less invasive process, where it will be like donating blood. Few years ago, there will a needle going into your bone and take some stem cell out, but now they only need to take blood from your arm and filter out the needed stem cells, and put back other parts of the your blood. The term bone marrow donation should be accurately called Stem Cell donation. You don't really donating your bone marrow, you only donating the stem cells in your blood, mostly white blood cells. Of course, the donating process will make sure you don't going home with insufficient white blood cells. You are going home the same day after the donation.
May God bless you for all your geneoristy and love! |
