51. 形容“内秀外粗的人”，用rough diamond. 指表面大大咧咧，其实很聪明可靠。

52.  形容“控制欲强的父母”，用“helicopter parents”, 非常形象，在孩子耳朵边“哒哒哒”不停说教、管教，像直升机的轰鸣一样让人有压力。

53.  形容“发怒、生气”，go bananas, 类似于go crazy.

54.  形容“头脑冷静的人”，用“level-headed”(指calm and relaxed)。 不是发型“平头”，“平头”是crew cut.

55. 形容“俩人截然不同”，可以用 A and B are like chalk and cheese. 很好理解，因为粉笔和芝士确实没有共同点。

56.  如表示“大笑，狂笑”，用“laugh one’s head off ”.

57.  使人大为惊异，“blow one’s mind”。

58.  如表示“大好时机”，用“now or never”.

59.  表示“不重要的人或事”，用 “small potato”。

60.  表示“刹那间”，用“in the twinkling eye.”

61.  举例时，可以用 “let’s say ...” /  “A, B, C... to name but a few,”

62.  如果需要委婉表达一个“unpleasant truth”，可以用 if you don’t mind my saying so，...

63.  说“我欠你个人情”，用“I owe you one”.

64.  表示“一切都好极了”，用“Everything in the garden is lovely.”

65.  表示“进展不顺利”，用 not all roses.

66.  描述“软弱和意志力不坚定的人”，可以用 jellyfish (水母) 形容。

67.  形容“贫嘴的人”，用“a grease ball / guy”。grease是油脂的意思，这里指油腔滑调。

68.  表示“结束某行动”，用 “Let’s call it a day”.

69.  表示“当然”，除了absolutely, definitely, 还可以用 You bet it.

70.  表示“同意对方的观点”， 用“you said it”.

71.  说“某人精力充沛”，不用”He is energetic.” 用”He is bouncy”更地道。

72.  说“某人气色好”，不用“You look fine”，而说 “You are in the pink.”

73.  当你“话到嘴边想不起来时”，一般会说 ”Let me see” 或“Just a moment.”

      不过，“It’s on the tip of my tongue.”要更贴切和地道。

74.  当遇到不懂的问题时，可以说“It’s beyond me.”  /  ”It’s past my understanding.”

75.  交谈时，当你需要转移话题时，不要只说“By the way”, 可以用 “Before I forget”,  “While I remember” 等，比较实用。

76.  表示“嫉妒”，可以用 be green-eyed (jealousy) “嫉妒的红眼病”.  

      例如， When she got an offer from Cambridge University, her classmates were somewhat green with envy.

78.  表示“趾高气扬”，用 “be on one’s high horse”.

79.  形容“害群之马”，用black sheep.  

      例如，Eric is a black sheep, splashing one million dollars in a few years. Eric 是个败家子，几年就挥霍了百万美金。

79.  说“眼不见，心不烦”，用“out of sight and out of mind”.

80.  说“某人忙忙碌碌”，可以用as busy as a bee.

81.  表示“一分耕耘，一分收获”，”No pains, no gains”.

82.  表达“人人皆有得意时”（每个人都有自己走运的时候），用“Every dog has his day.”  

      例如，Many of my friends have found well-paid jobs in foreign companies, but I told myself to be patient and remember that every dog has his day.

83.  形容“新手，菜鸟”，可以用 a green hand.

84.  形容“消息走漏了，”用“Hedges have eyes, and walls have ears.” 意为“竹篱有眼，隔墙有耳”。

85.  劝某人郑重考虑、“三思而后行”时，用“Look before you leap.” = Think before you decide.

86.  表示“某事不好坚持下去”时，用“Easier said than done.”说起来容易做起来难。

87.  对某事很惊讶时，“Is that so?”真是这样吗？

88.  表示“不确切知道”时，用 ”don’t know for sure”.

89.  表示“一言为定”，“It’s a deal.”

90.  赞同某人的想法时，可以用“brilliant idea.”

91.  表示“你尽管放心”，可以用“You can count on it.” 例如， You can count on it. Whenever you should need me, just let me know.

92.  表示“一直不喜欢某物”， 可以用“I never liked it anyway.”

      例如，- I am terribly sorry. I broke your mug by accident.

                  - Oh, don’y worry. I am thinking of buying a new one. I never liked it anyway.

93.  表示 ”面对现实”，用 Let’s face it.  

94.  表示“人生起伏”时，用 ups and downs.

      例如,  Life is full of ups and downs, and without the downs, the ups would mean nothing.

95.  表示“支持”，可以用 I am behind you.

96.  表示“你先请”，可以用“After you.”

97.  表示“忍不住”，可以用 I just can’t help it.

98.  表示“英雄所见略同”，用 Great minds think alike.

99.  表示“过去的就让它过去吧”，用 Let bygones be bygones.

100. 表示“心满意足”，可以用“on top of the world”.

      例如， When asked how she felt after the performance, she said,”On top of the world, it’s fantastic.”
      类似于 It’s too good to be true.  太好了，好得不敢相信。
