Dear Weizhen
Congratulations!
After months of formatting, proofreading and designing, your book has finally been published! The marketing team have worked extremely hard this month writing your targeted press release, pitch, creating you contact sheet and alerting prospects about your book. We fully understand the amount of time, emotion and money you have invested in the book and we will do our very best to do the book justice.
In your Welcome to Marketing email you received a document called Guide to Marketing— please make sure you read this carefully as it answers many frequently asked questions authors have about the marketing process.
During this month, we have been working extremely hard to market your title and find promotional opportunities for you. We will contact you with any results as they come in. From this point on, you will receive an email update from us every time we work on the campaign for your title. Due to the high volume of emails we receive from authors, we kindly ask that you do not email us asking for updates, we will update you when we work on your book and if we have any results to share. Marketing books takes a lot of time and persistence and it can take time to build a pipeline chase up results. We also ask that you limit the number of emails you send to us, as it takes a lot of time to respond to every author and this reduces the amount of time we can spend marketing the books. Of course, we welcome emails about any results you secure yourself, promotional material and book orders, prospects you would like us to contact on your behalf and urgent queries specific to the marketing of your book.
Please encourage people to purchase the book directly from our website as this will cut out the middle man and increase your royalties. It is also more lucrative for you to place orders at your author discount for events. Although you will not receive royalties for those books, you will keep all the profit you make selling the book, which is vastly more than you will make in royalties as the profit will be shared by us and the event organisers. We request that you allow two weeks for any book orders or promotional material you place. Please be aware that we cannot offer sale or return deals to authors and any book orders you place at your author discount will need to be paid in full before we can send that order out to you.
We understand that many of our authors want to be involved in the marketing process. If you arrange any events or press yourself, please let us know so we can help you promote this online and feel free to send us pictures to share on our social media channels. If there are children in your pictures we will need written consent from parents or guardians before we share these on our social media channels.
Generally, prospects prefer to be contacted by the publisher, so if there is anyone you would like us to contact on your behalf, who you haven’t already listed on your marketing questioner, then please send us their details including company / prospect name, phone number and email address and we will be more than happy to reach out to them on your behalf.
To remain compliant with current legislation, acceptable marketing practice and to protect the copyright of the book, we must gain consent from individuals before sending out review copies and we must also respect the individuals right to decline our offer. Your complimentary copies are for you to give to friends and family so if any press, bookshops, libraries or influencers would like a copy of the book for potential promotional purposes, then please let us know and we will send them a copy on your behalf.
Welcome on board and we will do our very best to help you market and promote the book.
