The lack of political backlash from the Chinese community is exactly why they are seen as punching bags in Canada and the US.
Political apathy in the Chinese community is very real - many don't like to become engaged in politics. The Chinese Canadian political leaders are mostly ineffectual or unknown.
The Indian community has been much better at mobilizing themselves and obtaining political positions as seem with the number of Indian Liberal cabinet ministers.
Exactly, there are a few Chinese MPs but none of them have the balls to call this girl or the PM out.
Have you ever been to China? They are incredibly racist. racist against outsiders. Racist against mainlanders, Taiwanese. There’s Singaporean racism. Racist against different castes.
Pretty much everywhere is super racist against other races and cultures and groups except for Canada US NZ Aus EU. We’re all still racist just not as bad as most others.

While I understand that this could be a problem, was it at all during this incident? I didn't see a single person start blaming the Chinese community for this or implying that Chinese people are particularly islamophobic. I only saw "Chinese" mentioned in the original article and didn't seem to be a part of any of the commentary.
The event appears to have been organized by an anti-Muslim group called Rise Canada, whose leader is Ron Banerjee, a guy known for saying that dead Muslims are a good thing (he also doesn't lose sleep over dead Sikhs).
In which case, it's not really "the Chinese community" protesting, it's "Chinese people who are involved with a multi-ethnic anti-Muslim group" protesting. They can only claim to speak for people of their nasty political ideology, not for the Chinese-Canadian community at large.

As a Muslim, I'm with them on this one. Lying and pointing the finger aimlessly is such a low blow not to mention a criminal act.
Okay, but after that nonsense hoax happened, did anyone try to pin this somehow on the Asian or the Chinese as a collective people to blame? Did anyone go "yep those Chinese are sure up to no good" ?
There is of course the matter of the Chinese government persecuting Muslims in some Chinese provinces, but this is not related here and it's just too detached from Canada. So people didn't make any assumptions here based on that.
It seems to me that the lie just involved a random description of someone who has been randomly described as "Asian". If that's the case, and no one reacted as if Asians or the Chinese are to blame, why react to this issue in this manner, as if someone was making a deliberate attack on Chinese people as a whole?
Try reporting this CBC. You only report when it's white folks protesting you bunch of twats.
