Students Protest at Queens Park Posted By: Dave Bradley [email protected] · 12/13/2012 5:40:00 AM
As of 1:30 on Thursday afternoon, only about 150 of the 5 thousand Toronto high school students were gathered on the front lawn of Queen's Park.
The protest had been planned on social media.
Kourosh Houshmand, a student trustee with the Toronto District School Board says teens from all over the city will walk out of class & head to the legislature in protest of the ongoing war between the provincial government & their teachers.
Public high school teachers are refusing to take part in any extracurricular activities as their own show of protest against the Putting Students First Act.
Houshmand says the fight is between the Ministry of Education & unions so "Why do students have to be involved?".
The 17-year-old says some students who show up at Queen's Park will be on the teachers' side, others on the government's. Houshmand says the common thread is all students want the problem fixed.
The TDSB says students who skip class to take part in the demonstration will be marked as absent.
Still, Chris Spence--the board's Director of the Education says it's "...excellent that students get involved in having their voices heard in a matter that impacts them".

What I want to know is are teachers payed sallery? If so then why do they say that they are only payed to work from 9-3? I thought that sallery pay was not based on hours they work. Unlike hourly wages. I think we should put teachers on the hourly wage system.
