1. to kick the bucket – to die.   That guy is over 100.  When do you think he will kick the bucket?

2. to pass the buck – to refuse to take responsibility.   In our system of government, the Prime Minister should not pass the buck.

3. to throw a fit – to become extremely angry.   Some 2 year olds throw a fit when they don’t get what they want.

4.  to run around in circles – to be busy with little or no result.  She seems to run around in circles without achieving much.
[徒劳无功] —— 她好象干得很卖力,但却收获甚小。

5.  to jump through hoops – to be put through an ordeal to try to achieve something.  You have to jump through hoops to get some jobs.
[(使)经历磨难,接受考验来取得成就] —— 你如果想要得到工作的话,就必须要吃一些苦。
