NECC New Year Interview: SAP job market 2009
An interview held by NECC with top SAP professionals focus on the topic of 2009 SAP Job Market. According to this interview, it expects that three features will shape SAP job market in 2009.
1. Increasing demand for comprehensive, complete and up-to date SAP knowledge
Despite economic gloom, SAP will be still popular in 2009, but with a few new features. SAP practitioners need to respond with latest knowledge, complete techniques and comprehensive expertise. For example, in financial reporting area, the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) will be fully implemented in Canada. In BI area, BOBJ is taking into agenda. As to HR, Labor Cost Management, Stock Option Management and Mutual Fund Management will be widely applied. Supplier Relationship Management has been completed end user training in large organizations. All these new trends in business world require us to update our SAP knowledge and continuously improve our expertise.
2. Significantly increased requirement for SAP hands-on skills
In 2009, 80% of SAP projects will significantly invest in data migration, system upgrade and complete integration, suggesting improving hands-on skills should be priority for SAP students. SAP practitioners from various backgrounds, such as operation, accounting, sales, logistics, shipping, finance, service, IT and so on, should leverage their professional experience and business expertise as tools for SAP implementation and maintenance projects. According to SAP job market survey for 2009, most of corporations will recruit SAP professionals based on hands-on skills and professional background. We should prepare well ourselves for the new tendency in job market.
3. Call for well rounded personality with professionalism, ethics and good communication skills
Employers have upgraded their expectations to a new level for individual morale, communication ability, and customer service attitude.
