But home builders are wondering why there's a rush, saying prospective buyers are not pushing for clotheslines. Acknowledging that "clotheslines are good for the environment," an official from the Ontario Home Builders' Association said "most families don't have the time" to hang their laundry out.
"The case we need to present is there are people out there who absolutely detest clotheslines," said association past president Victor Fiume.
"They like the idea that they don't have to look at their neighbour's underwear."
