the lambs and the butchers---after reading " the silence of the lambs"
metality is such a mistery--you never know what people are going to do in the next second, you can never predict their future behaviour, that's why usually, the most
vicious crimes are committed by the most domestic lambs in the sheep pen. the tamest ones are always easier to become the butcher. we all are lambs, we all are
witnnesses, we all are silently watching  the slaughter in the non-stop screamings of the victims.

Like Dr, Lecter said in the novel;" he is pretending to be someone, to have something special, and we all are doing the same thing." just scan through all the characters
in the book, or even the people around us in everydaylife, we will find out, that is true! we all have fear and weakness.

Chilton is pretending to be sophisticated,
becuase he's afraid that people will laugh at him for his lack of a doctorial degree; Starling doesn't want the others to look down upon her as a low-born girl; frederica
is not happy about her big body and plain looking-- in fact, as my point of view, i think all of the victims in the book are like her, and they tried thier best to make
themselves look satisfying to the others; the serial killer, Jame Gumb, is the weakest character in the book, (as my opinion), he wants to be a woman but he can't, he
wants to be as beautiful as his mother, and that triggers his willing to kill that has been hiding in his blood for decades; even the most mentally powerful character-
-doctor letcter, has the fear that people will think he is normal and unsmart.

We laugh at others' weakness to makes ourselves feel better. the victime ususally remains silent but we all know they are screaming agrily in their heart, and we do that
too when we become the target. however, some of the lambs are rebellious, Starling and Gumb make a sharp-cut contrast. Starling rebels by protecting the lambs,
while Gumb rebels by killing hte lambs. Starling cares about everyone, she thinks them as human; Gumb regards them as objects, the only thing he cares is the quality
of their skin. they both get  emerged from the cocoon at last---one as an honorable agent, the other ended up being a notorious killer with his unfinished skin-cloth.we
all suffer through our way of growing, and its very improtant to choose the right way to confront the difficulties.

nowadays, it seems like nobody really cares about the small-potatoes like us. when Frederica died, when the first 5 victims were found miserably in the river, did we
panic? no, not until the disapearing of senetor Martin's daughter.why? becuase her mother is a senetor, she has the power, she can use them to search through the
whole country, while the bodies of other lie in the cold damp coroner's room. throughout the story,  i think Starling might be the only one who has cared for them(
Crowford is just too rational), if everyone is like Starling, the silence will be break and hopefully there will be no more butchers .

As conclusion, i would like to say, only those with a caring heart like Starling can " sleep deeply, sweetly, in the silence of the lambs."
