当你在加拿大或美国找工作的时候，都要给雇主提供一份简历。 一份简历就是一份个人培训，工作经验，技能的总结。雇主首先就是根据你的简历来判断你是否是一个他们所要招聘职位的合适的候选人。一份简历就象是你的个人广告，你要在简历中重点列出你的特点，比如那些能给人印象深刻的，你所独有的。

如何才能算是一份好的简历呢？这份简历要能够让雇主很容易、很快的作出判断即你的技能和工作经验是否符合他们的要求，当然是越容易越好。好的简历的能够很容易地引起潜在雇主的兴趣，从而使申请人获得面试的机会。因此，如何准备一份好的简历是成功找到工作的第一步，而且是重要的一步。

要准确预测每一个雇主在一份简历中想要什么是非常困难的，因此面面俱到是不可能的。在简历中，你必须包括并重点强调能够表明你的技能和个人品质方面的东西。

第一步
将你的教育背景、工作经验、义工经验、学术活动和实习以及各自的参与时间列一张完整的表。对每一次的经验，用一些简短的句子解释一下你所参与的任务。你所描述的这些任务要能够说明你能为雇主提供的技能。你所要用的最好的句子是那些能够强调你的成就的句子，比如你自己独自承担了某几项任务，你的创新所导致的积极的结果。要用一些强有力的动作动词和形容词在你的句子中，比如 attained, completed, coordinated 等等。这样的句子就是所谓的“一行式”句子，他们将会使你本来毫无吸引力的简历变得能够一下子引起雇主的兴趣。在写简历是不能象在中国那样谦虚，但是要直接，简洁，诚实，而且职业化。

第二步
要确定你的简历要面向什么人。一份简历最好定位于特定的职业领域或工作。然后搜寻与这个领域招聘广告上的相关的主要技能和要求。接着在你第一步所列的表中找你觉得与你所申请工作最相关的条目。比如， 一个申请教师职位的人可能会选取他的教学实习或者他的义务指导别人学习的经验等等。所有的这些相关的经验要放“相关职业经验”这一栏中。

第三步
现在你可以开始建立你的简历了。你所需遵循的就是将相关的信息放在前面并给予足够的空间。

最后，你的简历要看起来越吸引人越好。它应该简洁明了并且要有足够的事实细节将你的重要方面呈现给雇主。最好将你的简历限定在两页纸以内，用激光打印机打印在咧柿康拇蛴≈缴希
