Alleged Ponzi schemer offers his ‘expertise’ in Sino-Forest case http://natpo.st/pddUmX via @legalpost
Weizhen Tang has a secret weapon that can help clean up the Sino-Forest mess: himself.
Tang, an alleged Ponzi scheme operator and self-described “Chinese Warren Buffett,” sent us an email questioning whether the Ontario Securities Commission has the capacity to recover funds for investors:
“I don’ t think OSC and special investigators know how and
what to investigate , they will not result anything.
“OSC or SINO-FOREST should hire me or some other investment experts to
investigate ,not lawyer and accountant or reporters”
Tang held a protest at the OSC offices in Toronto on Thursday while the regulator was holding a hearing into the Sino-Forest matter. It’s doubtful the OSC will take up Tang’s offer of assistance. The OSC has accused Tang of orchestrating a Ponzi scheme that took more than $60-million from investors.
This is not the first time Tang has offered to solve community problems. He ran for mayor of Toronto in the 2010 municipal election. He came in 20th with 890 votes or 0.109% of the votes cast.
