The synergetic effects of MAGDYNO’s permanent magnet brushless motors with its soft-geared controller overcome the serious disadvantages of traditional motors. MAGDYNO’s patented technology for its soft-geared permanent magnet brushless motor takes the advantages of computer control engineering technology and Zero Commutation theory, to achieve zero current gear shift for the LEV application. MAGDYNO’s patents include: “Stator winding for a variable speed brushless direct current (DC) motor” and “soft-geared controller driven power-train system and its application in LEVs”.
MAGDYNO has designed two versions of its soft-geared permanent magnet brushless motors, a “2-geared” 250W~350W 48V motor; and a “3-geared” 500W 48V motor with corresponding controllers. Both versions act as the power-train systems for electric bikes and electric motorcycles. The motor efficiently operates in startup mode, acceleration and on the flat road because the overall speed range of the motor can be extended by switching the stator current to flow through one or more segments of the stator winding, thereby dynamically adjusting the number of "active" turns of the stator winding. It has a higher torque at low speeds, providing good starting and climbing performance for a vehicle fitted with this motor. The motor can operate efficiently at moderate and high speeds, and can be controlled using a simple control system, thereby enabling simplified operation of the electric vehicle fitted with this motor.
