啊，对了。我理解错了。还是用 compress 比较好。

abridge and a bridge的发音是一样的。我真的担心生活中怎么来区分他们？
还有，几天前和鬼佬聊到中国。他谈中国的Great Wall,我误会成Great War，居然交流这个主题持续了5、6分钟，真是丢!

devil,: A subordinate evil spirit; a demon。布什当年就是用“empire of devil”来形容北朝鲜的
evil: 邪恶。布什当年就是用了“axis of evil”这个词
werewolf: 来自传说中的狼人。通常指凶恶、凶残的人

除此之外，还有serpent 和 Satan两个词
serpent： “大蛇”。西方文化认为该“大蛇”最初用计引诱人类始祖犯罪，到后来该蛇长大就变成了“龙”，乃至统治全世界了。所以多用来形容阴险毒辣的人
Satan：Satan来自希伯来语，原意是“明亮之星、、聪明之子”的意思，西人文化里认为该“明亮之星、、聪明之子”并且大有能力的天使，后来由于骄傲而堕落成为魔鬼。又叫撒旦，大魔鬼。在西方人眼里，如果骂别人是Satan，几乎是不可以想象的。因为西方文化认为Satan是大魔鬼中超级老大。
本来是一个响当当的好名字，想不到成了魔鬼的代名词，真是让人感叹不已。在中文里可能找不到这样的词吧？

个人认为这些词的分级是：Satan，demon， devil，serpent， werewolf，evil
