12.12  雅思考试题目

Nowadays celebrities are mainly famous for their glamour and wealth than for their achievements, and this sets a bad example to young people. To what extent do you agree and disagree?

Celebrities are highly influential peoplewhose actions and decisions are watched and emulated
by wide audiences, especially young ones. It is said that famous people are known for
their charm and huge earnings, so to those impressionable young minds, they act as bad examples. I totally agree with the aforementioned statement due to several reasons.

The icons idolizedby teens present an unattainable imageand this can have negative repercussions. By comparing those images with themselves, they are very likely to look down on themselves and feel dissatisfied with the way they look. Young girls who aspire to have a celebrity’s figure probably will be mislead to eat unhealthy products to suppress appetite. Besides, young people who are bombarded bysuch images are very likely to have a belief that physical appearance defines a person’s worth. In other words, looking good is above other inner qualities such as hard work, perseverance, which lead celebrities’ way to success and are overlooked by many fans.

To make things worse, their wealth displayed by their fancy dresses, huge houses and lavish lifestyles makes teens believe that money is everything. Young minds living in this hyper-connected worldhave easy access to know what celebrities’ life look like. It helps young people form an “ ideal life” that most people can never achieve. They may believe that the success of a person is only judged byhow much material possessions, and physical comforts he has, and may never appreciate what he has and keep wanting more.
A good example is Kim Kardashian, who spends millions of dollars on buying mansions, luxurious cars and products. The message to young people is that life’s success is nothing but having billions of dollar.

To conclude, with celebrities’ images and coverage about their rich lifestyle hitting headlines frequently, idols generally exert negative influence on young people, despite the fact thatthere are some good idols who deserve to be followed.
