我非常喜欢无花果，听说在多伦多有人种，谁知道从哪能买到树苗？多谢了。

去年，我在洋人的苗圃和华人的店里都看见过. 建议你去Sheridan或者Terra这些连锁店看看。

好象无花果是南方的植物，在这冰天雪地的地方见的可不多。

If you can get Chicago fig plant, or black mission fig plant, those are cold hardy, they might survive in Toronto climate, I went to one nursery yesterday, they only got the indoor type, the Italian fig tree, kind of disappointing.

I saw a lot of such a fig tree in the south. And this is a message I can get about how to care fig trees in cold area:

Fig trees are semi-tropical in origin. They thrive in areas where winter temperatures do not drop below 15°F (-10°C). Very young trees can be damaged by fall frosts when the temperature falls below 25°F (-4°C). Fig trees will grow in a variety of soils ranging from sandy loams to clay loams.

I guess in Toronto, the Winter outdoor temperature might be lower than -10°C. Therefore, it is not easy to keep them alive. Anyway, it might be a good try if anyone wants to grow such a fig tree. I will be certainly very glad to see it grow successfully here.

Second thought，this plant can live in a big pot.

Maybe we can try this way:move it to indoor during the Winter......

Winterize the plant before winter might help if get the right type of the plant. I heard people have planted fig trees in their back yard in Toronto area, they must have gotten the Chicago fig trees.

可我没对这种树太留心，要是有人种过这种植物能活的话，这东西叶挺大的，又能长果，够绿色的了，应该有卖。

我去年在Mississauga Chinatown里见过,一人多高的树,在一个大花盆里卖,价格好像还不贵. 后来在苗圃里也见过,但记不起来是哪里了.

这么小的树苗, 冬天需要有保护措施.
如果你能再等等, 再找找, 会有大一点的. 我曾经在Mississauga的Chinatown里, 看见过比人高的无花果树, 也不贵, 可能那是快入冬了, 大约也就是20-30刀.

kennedy/finch 以北Valleyview garden有。还没摆出来卖，但你可以偷进育苗区自取，然后强买。$10.95

I went Valleyview garden today, and most of the smaller fig plants were sold out. the gardener told me that what they have are only indoor fig plants and they won't survive out doors. I probably have to give up. I don't have any luck with indoor plants. 我养的室内植物活不过2年就凭白无故的全死了，室外的树大部分全活了，我不想再浪费钱和时间再买室内植物了。

I'm pretty sure 无花果是不能种室外的，有人专门在后院盖玻璃房种植，要不是过不了冬的。所以你还是选其他植物作室外种植吧。

也许这种树有室内室外两种, 在青岛确实是种在室外的. 青岛冬天最冷的时候也有零下十几度, 这种树都没问题.

May be I can just wait for you to plant fig tree successfully and get a cut from you, (fig tree needs prune as well). It looks like you are a gardening guru, if you can make 香椿cut alive, I am sure you can do the fig cuts too.

haha, I don't even have a plan to plant the fig tree.
Anyway, even I did plant the XiangChun tree successfully, but It doesn't mean that we can do the same to the fig tree. :-D

the major way for fig tree propagation is cutting. it may be even easier than 香椿。花园里卖的全是这样做的。只是到了冬天就麻烦了，一不小心就会冻死了。

冬天要采取保护措施, 等到两三年后,树木足够健壮了才能随便它了, 和你那棵香椿树是一样的道理.

在downtown看见了无花果树. 38刀.
距离Chinatown不远, 在St Andrew Street 和 Kensington Ave交界处,叫百利花店.

多谢信息。刚刚濾行回来，发现4盆非洲紫罗兰全死了，走之前交换的花草也全死光了，无花果是比较难养的，肯定活不了。我已经没信心再买花养花了。还是的等我提高一下养花技术再说吧。

Dandelion infection is a huge headache. when the neighbor's lawn have dandelion, your lawn can't be dandelion free. It is a losing battle. Some plants you want them to die but they never do and the vise Versa.

Do you know Dandelion is delisous ? It depends on how fast you eat it, if you eat it faster, then you can control it. if it grows faster than you eat, then it will out of control.
