The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has proposed a provisional total tolerable intake level of lead for infants and children of 6 [mu]g daily.

For infants and young children, (in case) ingestion of only 0.5 L of water per day with a lead concentration of 450 ppb (450 [mu]g/L) will result in a daily dose of lead of 225 [mu]g - a level approximately 38 times higher than FDAs total tolerable intake level.

据悉，自来水中铅的来源主要有两个方面：街道下的自来水主管（main pipe）， 以及自来水管中的焊接部分。由于多伦多的自来水管多装于上世纪50年代甚至更早，因此焊接头上的铅大量溶入水中，导致铅污染的问题愈来愈严重。

TMMD.先让政府把属于它那部分的水管修好吧，和每个市民家里的水管长度相比，街道下面的主水管每天渗入更多的铅。 我相信，政府把自己的事情做好了，再做测车，铅含量会少很多。而不是给所谓的INCENTIVE，就算市民们把家里的水管都换了，这个城市的主水管没换，一样没有用

What the government can do is not only to offer a financial incentive for home owners to replace those very old tubes, like 50 to 80 years old, [U]but also to inform every person who is the old house owner and his/her family members of the issue and the health impact as possible as the government can.[/U]

The government has a program to replace all the public water mains.

It is not possible for the government to know whether you have lead pipes from years ago.  You may be living in an 80 year old house but previous owners might have replaced all pipes and tubes.
