Waterfront10 3 hours ago How about MLS joins the rest of the World and display for each listing the total square footage of a property next to the price!! Everyone does it! USA, France, UK, Spain, even China, etc... But no, not here in Canada. PS: "The real estate board also said polling data shows most Canadians do not want details about their real estate deals to be public" really, which poll? Your own? TREB are nothing more than lying bullies.

THE SCAM:
This individual created 4 official "new listings" during his sale period for the same house! At the end of the day, he sold at a -23% cut from his initial price in June. Yet, for good old TREB, this house officially sold at +6.8% over asking!

I insisted that my realtor give me asking price, sale price and days on market information whilst I was looking for a new home. He didn’t balk as he knew that I would go elsewhere. Besides he did acknowledge that times were changing.
The result was a vastly different picture of the market. No, there weren’t the bidding wars as suggested by the real estate media nor the quick sales. Rather some homes had both price reductions and sat on the market for awhile.
The Competition Bureau is on the right track. I look forward to the time when information will be readily available just like Zillow in the US. Yes, it will mean the end of the weak, useless realtors. But the good ones, the individuals that provide timely, accurate information, will thrive.
Let me tell you

Every US State has had this data including sales prices, dates, taxes, property owners, full disclosures and more available free on line on any RE company website for last 15-20 years. Canada has nothing similar for consumer protection. Canada is in the dark ages and this lack of data and consumer protection perpetuates the continued corruption, money laundering, fraud, tax evasion and hyperinflating housing bubble occurring in Canada
Mr. C. Montgomery Burns 16 minutes ago Next, the federal court mandate public bidding so that each potential buyer knows what the other is willing to pay. This initiative would make the buying process much more transparent than it is. Australia has this system in place.
