He is saying the city’s gay community is not an important part of the Toronto he represents, that their concerns are not his.
This is more than a political choice or a personal preference: it’s a failure in his basic duty to speak for the entire city. He may not be comfortable with all kinds of people in a community as large and diverse as Toronto — but so what? Representing all the people is the job he signed up for...."
