加拿大最好的学校跟哥伦比亚大学比起来整体上也差一个档次，纽约不算远，想孩子了长周末都可以去看看。什么专业呀，另外，孩子怎么想？

Engineering不是哥大的强项，这个专业的排名在美国应该在２０名开外，另外哥大是私校，你们经济上压力会大些。这种事情牵扯太多，别人只能给些信息供参考, 你们还是自己拿主意，好运气

正因为学校不理想，才不知何去何从。但是孩子希望以后能在美国发展。是否在美国读书 provides more option for her ? （她不喜欢医学和法， She is still unsure of what she wants to do. Maybe by going to US, it will open up more doors for her (connections with profs and US company). I don't want to misinform her since this will have a huge impact on her final decision. 难阿!!!!

My own opinion is this: unless your daughter is a very ambitious person, there is no need go the best of best school. Stay in Canada, so she can be closer to you, use several government funded programs if she needs to and start her career in Canada. Canada's market is not as big as the states', but there are still plenty of opportunities.
