Children need plenty of unstructured
playtime--more than they're getting, says a new report from the American Academy of Pediatrics. Free time lets kids learn how to make friends, handle their feelings and focus in school, say the researchers. While there's no harm in signing your tyke up for an activity or two, remember that kick-back time can just as enriching--and it's free too.
